Girls Night Out Part 2 - The Spa Day

Sylvia and her girls had finished a murder mystery dinner party on Day One. Breakfast was served the following morning, and the Munro House Spa Day was about to begin. The ladies gathered for a variety of in-house services in the onsite spa at our Southern Michigan B&B. We scheduled some of everything we offer--manicures, pedicures, facials, massages, body wraps, and waxing. The services were provided by our staff of trained cosmetologists and masseuses.

A combination of good spirits and fun-loving women led to the start of another great day with these wonderful ladies.

Michigan Day Spa and Massage for the holidays

It has been a very good month for a spa getaway in Michigan. It seems like almost all of our guests at the Munro House Bed and Breakfast and Spa have been in need of a massage. Endless shopping, year end business stress, and planning family get-togethers take their toll on many people's bodies.  Our highly experienced staff has been here to alleviate stress, sooth tension, and relax muscles in an unlikely spa haven surprisingly close to home.

Munro House is located at highways 12 and 99 in South Central Michigan just an hour from Lansing, Ann Arbor, Battle Creek, and Toledo; and just 90 minutes from Detroit, Kalamazoo, and Fort Wayne. It is not necessary to spend a lot of time driving to the far reaches of Michigan to enjoy a winter getaway when a short trip to Jonesville can refresh and rejuvenate singles or couples in need.

Our trained professionals have the time, patience, and knowledge to make your Michigan spa experience a good one by being attentive to your time and your needs. Massages at the Munro House last a minimum of one hour on the table. Many spas have a schedule to keep and need to turn over the table every hour on the hour. In these places, an hour massage includes time to undress, consult, and dress--that leaves only 50 minutes or less for your service on the table.  Relaxation is the key at the Munro House. 60 minutes is the minimum time our guests spend getting a massage. Testimonials from thousands of guests regularly include the same themes--amazing massage, personable knowledgeable staff, and total relaxation.

Ladies Spa Day

Very often, women want to get away and have a spa day. In Michigan, the Munro House in Jonesville offers spa packages 7 days a week, along with bed and breakfast.  Conveniently located within 90 minutes of Detroit, Ann Arbor, Lansing, Battle Creek, and Kalamazoo, the Munro House has several packages that combine meals, lodging, and spa services done in our historic home.

Local professionals provide their talent to perform manicures, pedicures, facials, massages, body wraps, and waxing.  Our most popular packages include the first 4 day spa services.  A couple of girls arranging a spa day is typical, but we have had bridal parties of 14 come here for a getaway. We are able to schedule enough workers so that everyone is continuously occupied for a relaxing day at our spa.  These four services usually take about 4 hours to complete.

The typical package has our guests arrive on a Friday and go out for dinner and retire to their room.  After breakfast on Saturday, the spa services begin for a totally relaxing day.  A fine dining experience completes the day.  After another good night of sleep, another breakfast is served on Sunday before our guests return home, refreshed.

Spring Break in Michigan

Now that winter is over, people are antsy for a getaway.  Some want to go South to Florida or West to Arizona.  Some want beach, some want heat.  Everyone wants a change of scenery.  But not everyone has the time. That's when a getaway to Jonesville, Michigan, may fit perfectly.

When time is the biggest obstacle, a getaway location within 2 hours of home is a very good option. There may not be beach or heat, but there is a change of scenery and a relaxed pace nearby.  Family owned restaurants dominate the area and onsite spa professionals are available most every day.
Jonesville is located in South Central Michigan near Jackson.  The central location is within 2 hours of Detroit, Lansing, Kalamazoo, Grand Rapids, Toledo, South Bend, and Fort Wayne.  Choosing Jonesville means that most of the getaway will be spent relaxing and less of the getway will be spent driving. Folks with just a couple of days or a weekend will find Jonesville a convenient location for their short trip.

The Munro House Bed and Breakfast in Jonesville, Michigan, is a leader in innovative getaway packages in the Michigan B&B industry.  Most packages include dinners and massages, along with 2 nights bed and breakfast.  Flowers, chocolates, movie tickets, and other spa services can be added to create a unique package for any occassion.
The staff consistantly gets high marks for the quality of the service.  Some of that is due to the amount of time that is spent on the table receiving the service.  At the Munro House, a one hour massage means one hour of massage on the table.  At most salons, an hour of massage means 5 minutes of consultation, 5 minutes to disrobe, 45 minutes on the table, and 5 minutes to get dressed.  That's right, at many spas, a one hour massage lasts just 45 minutes.  At the Munro House, one hour of massage means 60 minutes of massage.

Local favorite restaurants take good care of guests from the Munro House.  The food is plentiful and consistanly very good.  The service is friendly and consistantly very good.
Additional items can be added to make the occassion special.  Chocolates, roses, and movie tickets can be added for romance.  Manicures, pedicures, facials, or body wraps can be added for relaxation.

Winter Getaway in Michigan

Christmas is over, New Years has been celebrated, and the next holiday on the calendar is Valentine's Day. But is a winter holiday necessary to take a weekend getaway in Michigan?  Some people call it cabin fever when there is a desire to get out of town for a few days in January and February. The cure for this ailment could be a weekend getaway to an interesting bed and breakfast in a small South Central Michigan town.  I'm talking about my town, Jonesville.

Jonesville is located at highways 12 & 99 about 20 miles North of the Ohio, Indiana, Michigan border. Toledo, Battle Creek, and Kalamazoo are all about an hour away. Detroit and Fort Wayne are about an hour and a half from here.  Chicago, Cleveland, and Indianapolis are a 3 hour drive. Near or far, we try to provide a great experience with a reasonable drive time.

Here, at the Munro House, we offer onsite spa services 7 days a week. We have professionals who can provide a manicure, pedicure, facial, massage, body wrap, and waxing services. A day at the spa or just an hour of massage can provide a great cold weather pick-me-up or alternative to just sitting home.

A wide variety of eateries are available from fast food to fine dining to what US Today once claimed was the best hamburger in the world at Ray's in Reading.

The pace is slower around here. Traffic jams are virtually non-existant, the food is good, and there is a lot of antique shopping within 10 minutes. Allen is the "Antique Capital of Michigan" and is just 5 miles away on highway 12. Several antique malls boast a total of over 1,000 dealers who display their treasures in a climate-controlled atmosphere. Dishes, tools, signs, toys, books, and lots of memories can be found here. The inventory is constantly changing so  there will always be a new selection of goods to peruse and reminisce about with you family, friends, or mate.  I am partial to the big red barn know as the Allen Antique Barn, but there is a big selection at Allen Antique Mall, Capital Antiques, and Hog Creek Antique Mall.

For those who just want to sit back, relax, and enjoy their mate, we've got rooms with big double Jacuzzi tubs, rooms with fireplaces, and musical instruments that include a baby grand piano, accoustic guitar, mandolin, and ukele that our guests are welcome to use.  Our movie collection has hundreds of titles and Blockbuster is just a couple minutes away for our movie lovers.

Of course, I'm going to bake cookies and have soft drinks available all of the time.  We also make a big breakfast 7 days a week.  We are famous for Lori's Secret Recipe Belgian Waffles, but we offer other things for breakfast, too.  A big bowl of fresh cut fruit along with coffee and juice is offered every morning.

If a getaway to Southern Michigan is what you are looking for, we are open 7 days a week through all seasons and will be happy to accommodate your needs.  Find out for yourself why "life is good in Jonesville."

Spa Day Almost Interupted

We offer spa services 7 days a week at the Munro House Bed and Breakfast in Jonesville Michigan. Most of our clients come here on the weekend for massages, but we also do manicures, pedicures, facials, body wraps, and waxing.

Last week, we had 5 women over for a girlfriend getaway. They came in Thursday, had spa services scheduled for Friday, and check-out on Saturday.

Late Thursday afternoon, the Jonesville Village Office called to inform us that the water would be turned off on our block for some maintenance the following morning at about 8:30 a.m.--no bid deal. We informed our guests and made sure that their shower was completed early, we filled some reserve containers with water, and planned our day accordingly.
Everything was going well until a jackhammer filled the air with noise just before the massages were scheduled to start. The workers were breaking up the street right in front of our house. Our massage room is on the second floor in the front of our house, so some adjustments had to be made.
We moved our services to the back of the house in vacant rooms away from the outdoor activity. The clients appreciated our proactive handling of the situation and upon completion of the services mentioned that they had not noticed the noise and were not inconvenienced by the new location of the services.

Our street was repaired, our water restored, and our guests refreshed. A day of potential problems was averted and 5 women left our house very happy.
