I am a Green Bay Packers fan. I show my colors every month of the year in Detroit Lions territory. I have t-shirts, jackets, hats, gloves, scarfs, neck ties, golf balls, grill covers, license plates, flags, and more. Win or lose, they are my team. A few friends have been allowed to view my collection of stuff in the Packer Shrine at my house. During the Pro Bowl, Greg Jennings tweeted that he would do a 'be great' celebration after his next catch--it was a touchdown. He put his Nike Viper gloves together to form the Packers logo with the G for Great.
Nike was debuting some of their 2012 gear at the Pro Bowl. Apparently, all teams will have this type of glove and they will be available in the Spring. Friends, I wear size XL :-)

After a few months of reading, training, and practicing, Lori Venturini is almost ready to begin using her long-arm quilting machine for fun and profit. Settings and quirks needed to be adjusted and fixed before the machine was able to work at its maximum efficiency. Now it is time for the test quilt to be completed. Her first quilt has several mistakes and imperfections. It is the ideal item to do further testing on while perfecting the learning process. Soon she will be open for business as she manages Munro House Quilts.

Munro House Bed and Breakfast "Life is good in Jonesville"
Reverend Mike Venturini performs weddings at Munro House B&B in Jonesville Michigan. The historic Munro House has a $1,000 wedding package that includes the site, plus flowers, wedding officiant, cake reception, and 2 nights bed and breakfast for the wedding couple.
Reverend Mike will also travel to Hillsdale, Coldwater, Jackson, or anywhere nearby to perform the wedding ceremony at the location of your choice. The ceremony can be traditional, modern, or personal. The service can be religious, spiritual, civil, or non-denominational.
The wedding couple needs to get a license and 2 witnesses or witnesses can be provided with sufficient notice. The rest can be pre-arranged with the Munro House. The guest list and reception is limited to 20 people. The wedding cake is provided by our local baker.
A couple from Fort Wayne checked in on Thursday. Our conversation led to one about finding a good hair stylist. My barber died recently, and I have been having a hard time finding someone that I click with. My female guest told me that she hasn't had a good hair stylist for several years. The next day, another couple checked in from Fort Wayne. I mentioned that they would be having breakfast with someone from their city the next morning. On Saturday morning the two couples met--it was the client and hair stylist from 6 years ago. They reunited as instant long-lost friends and had a great time enjoying each others company over breakfast. I love it when stuff like this happens at my house.
Another vase has been painted. Another Picasso Cat is added to the collection. Lori Venturini is dropping by Toasted Mud
pottery studio in Hillsdale and working on several projects over the course of days or weeks. These projects are relaxing, creative, and fun. She is getting better and faster while spending peaceful time with friends and acquaintances who share an interest in art. Kids, singles, couples, and groups gather at Toasted Mud to create masterpieces to look at or to use. We like to enjoy these projects by using them as they were intended. We eat from the bowls, serve from the plates, and will put flowers in the vases.
I downloaded a smart phone app called FourSquare. Basically, it tracks where you've been and lets your friends know where you are. There are additional features that provide statistics for competition with friends, mayorships, and special offers.
When I go to the gas station, I check in. At the grocery store, I check in. At restaurants, I check in. Everywhere I go, I check in. Points are achieved for first time check ins, returning check ins, and check ins with friends. Badges are earned for being a connoisseur of similar locations. Mayorships are earned by frequently going to the same places--even the water cooler. Many businesses have special offers that include freebies, upgrades, and special offers, so it's worth checking in to get a bigger better deal.
The Munro House B&B in Jonesville MI now participates in the special offers. Guests can get a free upgrade to a bigger room, tour groups get a reduced rate, and business travelers who come to Hillsdale County often can get a free massage.
Signing up is free. Gaining mayorships is fun. Getting stuff for free makes it worthwhile--I'm getting free McCafe Smoothies at my McDonalds.
Lori has completed another project at Toasted Mud pottery studio in Hillsdale. This cup and saucer combo was created using a "Picasso Cats" design. We have taken such a liking to these unusual cats that we are going to create a bunch of Picasso Animals for the next projects. Monkeys, dogs, and more cats are in the plan.
The Caffe Azzurri in Hillsdale has become the go to place for chicken wings on Saturday nights in January. Chicken wings are just 10 cents each--THIS IS NOT A MISPRINT--and long neck domestic beers are just $1 each--THIS IS NOT A MISPRINT EITHER.
The restaurant is no longer private and is still located on the grounds of the Hillsdale Country Club just South of Hillsdale off of M-99. I plan to get there earlier than last week because we ate them out of wings. Our table, alone, went though 157 wings! Some were barbeque, some were hot, some were ginger teriaki, and some were mango habanero. All were good.
Another masterpiece has come out of the kiln at Toasted Mud in Hillsdale, MI. Lori Venturini has never taken an art class but has proven that 53 years of life has prepared her to become an artist. This local pottery painting studio has a selection of pieces that are ready to be painted. Simple instructions are given by the staff. Then, it's just a matter of time and effort and inspiration to create a keepsake, heirloom, or work of art. This piggy bank project took several hours over a few weeks to complete. With time, I am sure the tasks will be finished in much quicker time with similar or better quality. Each design on this little piggy was hand drawn and painted with a thin line brush.
There are projects that can be completed in an afternoon, or over the course of a month. Either way, it is a relaxing and creative way to spend spare time.
Winter in Southern Michigan isn't too bad until the wind starts blowing. It really doesn't seem cold until the temperature drop into single digits, or the wind chill factor makes it feel like single digits. We got a few inches of snow this week, but with temperatures in the upper 20's and virtually no wind, there was no reason to get all bundled up to go outside and work, so I didn't. I already had my gym clothes on and felt manly enough to just "man up" and get it done. With my Yooper Scooper in hand, it only took a few minutes to clear the sidewalks of my corner lot in downtown Jonesville. It was exhilarating to push the powder onto the lawn while getting a light workout. I did not get cold, despite my lack of hat, gloves, and pants. The day will come when it will be necessary to get all geared up to shovel and blow the snow. Until then, I will remain comfortable when doing quick work on my property.
Seven couples came to Jonesville to participate in the annual New Years Eve Murder Mystery at the Munro House B&B in Michigan. Strangers became friends as they gathered to enjoy some old fashioned face-to-face social networking. The pairs joined forces to try to figure out who was telling the truth, who was lying through their teeth, and who was guilty of murder. All this was done while consuming a five course meal. It was an interactive evening of adult fun where the best part was that no one had to drive home--they all got to have as much fun as they wanted, then spend the night in a comfortable room and awaken to a big breakfast before heading back home. The murder mystery is traditionally done on New Years Eve, along with another 5-10 dates per year including multiple weekends in November--Murder Mystery Month at the Munro House.
