Highway 12 Garage Sale

Michigan’s Longest Garage Sale takes place on the second weekend in August and runs the length of Highway 12 through Southern Michigan. The sale is in effect August 12-14 in 2011. This 200 mile event has participants in cities, small towns, and rural areas between downtown Detroit and New Buffalo.  Antiques, collectibles, and furniture plus produce, jams, and other home-made items may be found along the trail.

Many participating properties will be found at private residences, in fields, at businesses, or in parking lots. Many of them will be right along the highway, while others can be found a few blocks off of US-12 in small communities like Jonesville. Jonesville happens to be at about the halfway point from the eastbound or westbound trail. Ice cream, fast food, family restaurants, and fine dining can be a nice break during a full day of garage sales. The Munro House Bed and breakfast in Jonesville is just a block off of highway 12 tour in downtwon Jonesville and just may have a room available for weary travelers after a full day of sale-ing.

The garage sales, rummage sales, and yard sales will be well-signed along US-12 to point shoppers towards the treasures they may find.
