Garage Sale Rummage Sale Yard Sale

The annual highway 12 garage sale is halfway finished. Thursday and Friday brought a noticeable increase in traffic through Southern Michigan along US-12. Saturday and Sunday should bring even more shoppers looking for treasures along the route of Michigan’s longest garage sale. The Eastern trail head begins near the Detroit River shore and runs almost 200 miles. The Western trail head is in New Buffalo near the shore of Lake Michigan.

Jonesville is very near the mid-point of highway 12 in South Central Michigan.  Many residents of Jonesville are participating this year. Some are fortunate to live right on US-12 while others are a few blocks off the main drag with signs pointing towards their sale. The village has opened up the park in downtown Jonesville for folks who live in an inconvenient location but still want to participate in this popular event. Jonesville is a great place to take a break during a full day of garage sales. There are a dozen restaurants in town featuring everything from fast food to ethnic cuisine to family and fine dining plus ice cream.

Whether folks decide to hold a garage sale, yard sale, rummage sale, or porch sale, there is a big variety of stuff to browse from antiques and collecibles to toys and clothes to artwork and treasures. If you don’t make it this year, the sale is traditionally held during the 2nd weekend in August.
